The Minister for Community Development and Charities is recruiting a
Special Advisor to assist him in his work. The Minister oversees much
of the Community Development functions in the Department of Rural and
Community Development and also some functions in the Department of
Social Protection, including responsibility for the implementation of
the Roadmap for Social Inclusion **Apply on the website** and
Community Employment.
KEY FUNCTIONS
The Advisor will report to the Minister and will have responsibility
for ensuring a strong Green Party influence on the policy and work of
the Departments under the remit of the Minister.
She/he will:
* Support the Minister in managing his Departmental responsibilities;
* Ensure that his perspective, as a Green Party Minister, is
integrated in the work and policy orientation of the Departments;
* Manage the implementation of the relevant Programme for Government
commitments in the Ministers? Departments;
* Deal with political representations from public representatives;
* Brief the Minister on relevant Government, public and political
issues;
* Assist with public communications
RELATIONSHIPS
The Advisor will work closely with:
* Department officials;
* The wider Green Party team;
* The Senior Minister and her team;
* The Media;
* NGOs and other Civil Society organisations.
EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will have at least five years? experience
at a senior level in the area of public policy development or
implementation. Experience in the promotion of human rights, equality,
community development or social inclusion would be an advantage.
REMUNERATION
Equivalent to Assistant Principal level.
